Job Title: Janitor

Shift/Hours: 1st shift, 6:45am-2:50pm

Department/Group: Maintenance

Reports to: Supervisor

Position Purpose Summary – The Janitor will be responsible for cleaning and sanitizing offices, meeting rooms, bathrooms, cafeterias and public areas.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Comply with all federal and state environmental, health and safety regulations as well as any safety policies and protocols outlined by the company

• Sweep and mop floors and vacuum carpets

• Wash and sanitize toilets, sinks and showers and restock disposables (e.g. soap)

• Wipe mirrors and windows

• Organize conference rooms (remove divider, tables etc.)

• Perform general cleanup of all areas of the building’s interior and exterior

• Complete non-routine emergency cleaning as required

• Collect and dispose of common and industrial waste, and recycling

• Ensure that all areas are kept very clean and in proper working order

• Perform all duties in a timely and safe manner.

• Perform all work in accordance with Company's Safety, Environmental, and Quality Policy, and Company Rules.

• Perform miscellaneous duties within the entire interior or exterior of the site as directed by Supervision.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

Must have average skill level in the following areas:

• Grounds Maintenance

• Building and floor Maintenance

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• High School Diploma / GED

• 2 years of prior custodial experience preferred

• Safe work practices

• Methods and techniques of cleaning and preserving floors, furniture, walls and fixtures.

• Operational characteristics of cleaning equipment and chemicals

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and frequently 30 lbs. without the use of mechanical lifting devices.

• Ability to continuously work in positions requiring grasping and repetitive movement.

• Ability to frequently work in positions requiring kneeling, standing, walking, climbing and performing repetitive movement tasks.

• Ability to work in areas with temperature extremes.

• Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as:

Hearing Protection

Eye/Face Protection

Foot Protection

Respirators

Protective Clothing
