Job summary :

Electrical assembly manufacturing engineers focus on the production of electrical components and systems, ensuring efficient assembly processes, quality control, and adherence to safety standards n. In this role, you will use your knowledge, experience, and analysis techniques to help select, develop, and optimize manufacturing methods and tools. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to define and communicate capabilities, evaluate new opportunities, and provide technical solutions to manufacturing challenges.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities :

  • Assist with global introductions and transfers into production environment

  • Aid in deployment of new products and processes in line with The Right FITT

  • Manage and control the adoption and existence of best practices in common factory approach organization

  • Effectively operate lab, pilot, and/or production equipment

  • Support technical activities related to new product development efforts from tool design through prototype delivery and production planning

  • Analyze / interpret inspection data for process and tool optimization

  • Represent GTC Development Engineering/Operations in front of customers (external and internal customers)

  • Participate in design for manufacturing reviews and PFMEA efforts

  • Identify manufacturing resource requirements and prepare plans for product and process realization

  • Assure proper process control documentation and lessons learned information is generated for assigned projects

  • Develop and execute manufacturing qualification plans for process validation

  • Electrical Engineering Knowledge: A strong understanding of electrical principles, including circuitry and electronic components, is essential for designing and troubleshooting electrical assemblies.

  • Assembly Techniques: Proficiency in various assembly techniques such as soldering, crimping, wiring, and harnessing to efficiently construct electrical systems.

  • Manufacturing Processes: Familiarity with manufacturing processes specific to electrical assembly, surface-mount technology (SMT), through-hole assembly, and wire harnessing.

  • CAD Software Proficiency: Ability to use computer-aided design (CAD) software to create and review assembly drawings, schematics, and layouts.

  • Quality Control: Knowledge of quality control procedures and techniques to ensure that electrical assemblies meet specifications and standards, including inspection, testing, and troubleshooting.

  • Materials Management: Understanding of materials used in electrical assembly, including component selection, procurement, inventory management, and storage considerations.

  • Lean Manufacturing Principles: Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and methodologies to optimize assembly processes, minimize waste, and improve efficiency.

  • Problem-solving Skills: Ability to identify and resolve issues related to assembly processes, equipment, or component compatibility to ensure smooth production flow.

  • Documentation Skills: Proficiency in creating and maintaining accurate assembly instructions, procedures, and quality records to ensure consistency and traceability in the manufacturing process.

  • Safety Awareness: Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment and adherence to safety regulations throughout the assembly process, including proper handling of electrical components and equipment.

  • Communication Skills: Effective communication with cross-functional teams including design engineers, production workers, quality assurance personnel, and management to convey assembly requirements, address concerns, and coordinate activities.

  • Project Management: Skills in project planning, scheduling, and resource management to ensure timely completion of assembly projects while meeting quality and cost targets.

  • Continuous Improvement: Willingness to identify opportunities for process improvement and implement changes to enhance assembly efficiency, quality, and productivity.

  • Teamwork: Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues from various departments to achieve common goals and resolve challenges encountered during the assembly process.

  • Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing production requirements, technology advancements, and customer specifications in the electrical assembly manufacturing industry.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Education/Certifications: Bachelors of Science in Engineering or appropriate technical field; Mechanical or Materials Engineering preferred

Skills and Experience:

  • 3 years experience developing & validating new manufacturing processes

  • Technical background with experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Working knowledge of SPC software & analysis methods preferred

  • Lean/Six Sigma experience and root cause analysis

  • Strong computer literacy, especially in MS Office

  • Experience with 3-D modeling tools such as SolidWorks

  • Ability to use measurement instruments/hand tools
